Second Therapy Session

Dr. Hill is seen standing by the window of his office, which is now dimly lit by what appears to be moonlight. He proceeds to walk over to the player, activates a lamp, and sits down in front of the player.

Dr. Hill: Hello again. And how are we feeling?

(If in the last session the player stated that the scarecrow in the picture of the cottage made them uneasy, and that they would refuse to live in it by themselves)

Dr. Hill: In our last session we established that you have a fear of things that are... dead... or undead...

(If the player said that the scarecrow in the picture of the cottage frightened them, but the possibility of supernatural activity within it did not scare them)

Dr. Hill: I believe that in our last session, you were not completely honest with me. I am an expert with years of experience, don't think you can mislead me.

(If the player said that the peacefulness in the picture made them happy, but they wouldn't stay in the cottage for a week because they were scared of the scarecrow)

Dr. Hill: In our last session we made good progress identifying one of your fears.

(If the player said that the sunshine in the picture made them happy, and said that they fear darkness)

Dr. Hill: I hope that you managed to stay away from dark places since we last spoke.

(If the player said that darkness make them feel depressed, and said that they're bothered by being isolated)

Dr. Hill: I trust that you have stayed in the company of good friends since our last session...?

(If the player said that the scarecrow made them feel uneasy, that they'd be scared staying in the house, and that they're unsure why/they fear something else but they don't know what or if the player said that the picture made them feel happy because it's peaceful and wouldn't care living in the cottage even if it's haunted )

Dr. Hill: It seems we hardly scratched the surface in our last session. So let's go a bit deeper this time...

Dr. Hill: This time, we're going to try to understand the root of your anxiety.

DrHill2

Men or Women? Which worry you?

(Dr Hill pulls out a small book and tosses it over to you.)

Dr. Hill: Now pick up that book, turn the pages. You will see a set of pictures and symbols. I want you to identify which image in each set makes you the most anxious.

(The player opens the book, and two illustrations are shown, one of a man, and another of a woman. Two choices are given, "Men worry me" or "Women worry me". After choosing one, the player turns the page, and an illustration of a plane and of a crowd of people are shown. The player must choose either "Planes scare me" or "Crowds scare me". Upon choosing one, the player turns the page, and is met with a drawing of a person standing at a high point of a building and an arm poking out of a pool of water. The choices are "I fear heights" and "I fear drowning". The next page displays one drawing of a snake and one of a rat. You can choose either "Snakes scare me" or "Rats scare me".)

The camera quickly cuts to Dr. Hill taking notes of your choices.

(The camera returns to the book, one illustration shows a pistol and the other shows a kitchen knife. You are presented with the choices, "Guns are scary" and "Knives are scary". The next page once again displays the drawing of the snake or rat (depending on which one you selected), but this time, a cockroach is shown to the right. Your choices are "Snakes/Rats scare me" and "I fear Cockroaches". When the player turns the page once more, they are presented with an illustration of a vicious grinning clown and a scarecrow wearing a straw hat, with the options of: "Clowns scare me" and "I fear Scarecrows". Next up, the two pages show a pile of guts on one side and a black crow on the other, with the answers: "Gore disgusts me" and "Crows are scary".)

After making your choice, the camera immediately rises to Dr. Hill, as he slapped his hand onto the desk to purposely startle the player.

Dr. Hill: Oh - did I startle you? So sorry... you're doing very well... don't be nervous...

Dr. Hill places a metronome onto the desk that repeatedly sways back and forth.

Dr. Hill: Try to... speed up a bit. The more you rely on your instincts, the more honest your answers will be and the more enlightening you will find this experience.

(The camera cuts back to the book once more. As you turn the page, you become faced once again with the snake, rat, or cockroach on one side, and a spider on the other, with the options of: "Snakes/Rats scare me or I fear cockroaches" and "Spiders are creepy". On the next page, the gore or crow shows up again (depending on which one you selected), but an illustration of an injection needle is placed to the right, with the choices of "Gore disgusts me or Crows are scary" and "I fear needles". Upon continuing, the grinning clown or the scarecrow wearing a straw hat is seen again to the left (depending on which one you selected), but an illustration of a zombie is now seen to the right, the choices are "Clowns scare me or I fear Scarecrows" and "Zombies scare me". The next illustrates gore, a crow, or a needle on the left side (depending on which one you selected), and a feral dog on the right, the last options are "Gore disgusts me, Crows are scary, or I fear needles" and "I fear dogs". The last page shows the gore, crow, needle, or dog once more on the left side (depending on which one you selected), and a storm on the right, the last options are "Gore disgusts me, Crows are scary or I fear needles/dogs" and "Storms scare me.")

Dr. Hill places his pen on the metronome on his desk in order for it to stop ticking.

Dr. Hill: This is very interesting. Thank you, for answering so... diligently.
